Summer is Here and Wildwood Events are Heating Up

The summer season is getting into full swing and every weekend in June is packed with activities.  In North Wildwood, there will be a parade each of the first 3 weekends in June for the Elks, American Legion, and the VFW.  Experience small town America with a good old fashioned patriotic parade.  Celebrate the service and commitment of these fine organizations to our communities throughout the United States.

Father's Day Weekend (June 13-15) will bring an Import Truck and Car Show to the area.  The vehicles will be on display on the Boardwalk on Father's Day or you can see them at the Naval Air Station Wildwood on Saturday.   Additionally, the Mummers Brigade will be in North Wildwood with a block party in the Entertainment District Saturday afternoon followed by demonstrations by the winners of the New Year's Parade Competition in Philadelphia.  Cars, truck, airplanes, and a Mummer's demonstration - what better way to celebrate Father's Day.

Wildwoods Restaurant Week kicks off on June 15th and goes through the 20th.  What a great week for an early summer vacation.  Rates are lower during the week and now you can have some great food at a value price as well.  More than 20 restaurants from all over the island will be participating and the deal includes a 4-course meal for $30.

June 21 -22 brings the Maritime Festival to the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse.  In addition to artists, historians, and authors, there will be crafts, food and activities throughout the weekend to celebrate New Jersey's rich maritime history.  Additionally, you can take a tour of our beautiful lighthouse and see their amazing organic gardens.

The final weekend of June boasts a huge soccer competition on the beach, the North Wildwood Italian Festival, and the start of Friday Night Fireworks.

June is also the start of the summer concert series in Wildwood at Fox Park and Wildwood Crest at Centennial Park.  Check out the schedules and take advantage of great music at the beach and under the stars.

So, don't wait to make your plans for a beach getaway.  After this long, cold winter, the time is now.  We are ready to welcome you at the Candlelight Inn.  Make your reservations now.

Last Minute Shopping - Think Gift Certificate

Well, it is the last weekend before Christmas and I am sure many of you are madly trying to put the last pieces together before the big holiday.  As you look over your gift list, why not shop from the convenience of your home and purchase a Candlelight Inn gift certificate.  You choose the amount and the message and we will take care of the rest.  It takes only minutes to get the gift certificate and it is easy to wrap.  What better way to say, "I care about you" than providing the gift of time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

If your loved ones are far away, think about a Select Registry gift certificate.  These can be used at both the Candlelight and more than 300 Bed and Breakfasts throughout North America.  What better way to get through the long, cold winter than dreaming of a Spring or summer getaway.

Whatever you need to do to complete your preparations for the holidays,we wish you all the very best for a wonderful holiday season.

Celebrate Fall with a Wine Weekend in Cape May County

Thanksgiving is almost here and being the perfect host or guest usually involves a nice wine to offer during dinner.  Why not spend this weekend visiting Cape May County where our wineries offer wonderful tasting rooms.  Sample a wide variety of wines and select one to pair with your special Thanksgiving dinner.  If you are not sure what type of wine to purchase, they offer a helpful guide that helps you pick the right varietal for any meal.  Check it out on the Cape May Wineries website.

We currently have six wineries within a short drive of the Candlelight Inn.  They include:  Natali Vineyards, Jessie Creek Winery, Hawk Haven Winery, Cape May Winery, Turdo Vineyards, and, the newest, Willow Creek Winery.   Originally family farms, they have been transformed with vines lining the roadways throughout the county.  Take your time driving through and enjoy the beauty of Fall.  At each venue, relax and enjoy a taste or two while hearing stories of the start of these wineries from the owner/winemakers.

After a full day of winery tours and tasting, consider dinner at one of the BYOB restaurants throughout the area.  We recommend the Black Duck on Sunset, Tisha's, Peter Shields, Sofia, and Gia's.

What a wonderful way to spend a romantic weekend together in Cape May County.  We hope to see you!!
