Taste of the New Jersey Shore

We are not only lucky to be near the BEST BEACH at the New Jersey shore, we have some of the best restaurants within a short distance from the Candlelight Inn.  From fine to casual dining spots, the Wildwoods will leave you with a great taste in your mouth.

This week is restaurant week in Wildwood and many favorites are offering a 4-course menu for $30.  Some of our favorites that are part of this "taste of the Wildwoods" are Jersey Girl, Beach Creek, and Neil's Island Grill.  For all the details about this event, check out the Wildwood Restaurant Association.

If you cannot make a trip for these great deals this week, plan for the last week of August when they will have a repeat performance.

The Joys of June

June brings with it the anticipation of summer - the weather is warming, the days are getting longer and longer, and the sounds and smells of summer begin to permeate the air. It is still early in the season though and, with that, you have more space at the beach, no lines for your favorite rides, and shorter waits at your favorite eatery.

Most of us, though, seemed tied to the school schedule and wait until after June to think vacation. It may be a good year to rethink that and explore your favorite beach spot in June. The weather has been fairly warm for June (if you do not count today) and tourists have been out and about soaking up the sun and fun here in the Wildwoods. Also, June brings some lower rates - yes, the value season as we call it at the Candlelight. So, if you can sneak away for a few days midweek in June, you just might get the early summer vacation you need.

Hope to see you soon.

Wildwoods NJ Memorial Day Starts Off Summer

The Memorial Day Weekend, as the official kick-off to the summer season, was quite spectacular here in the Wildwoods.  The weather was really great for an early summer weekend and the beaches were crowded with sun worshipers and the more adventurous types who took a dip in the ocean.  It is no wonder that so many flock to the Wildwoods for the summer.  The beach was named the Top beach in New Jersey.  The results were announced at the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium/New Jersey Sea Grant's (NJMSC/NJSG) annual State of the Shore Media Event on Thursday, May 27th.

Coupled with the beach, the strong breezes made for a wonderful kite festival.  The scene of elaborate kites flying over the beach was really spectacular.  Additionally, the boardwalk was full of people taking in their old favorites as well as checking out some new activities that were added to this summer treasure.  Probably the biggest boardwalk hype was over Morey’s Piers new ghost ship, Ignis Fatuus, which provided heart stopping thrills to those who waited to experience it first-hand:

Summer is upon us and the Candlelight Inn is within a short distance to all the sun, fun, and thrills you could want.  We are waiting to see you.
