Signs of Spring and Dreams of Summer at the New Jersey Shore

Today, I received notice of plans for my 40th High School Reunion from Wagner H.S.  I cannot be that old, can I??  On top of that, I was so excited to see my elementary school, P.S. 22 in Staten Island, NY, sing at the Oscars and on the Oprah Show.  It brought back so many wonderful memories.

One of those memories was the "early" Spring visit to the beach.  The first Saturday in March that made us feel that Spring was not far away, we would pile into a car and drive to the beach.  We would walk the boardwalk and just imagine being crowded together with everyone during our summer evening strolls.  We would look longingly at the boarded up shops and laugh about what the "new" phrases would be on all the t-shirts and how good the funnel cake would taste when summer arrived.  We would look to our favorite rides and imagine the thrills and hear the screams that would accompany each of those rides.  Those were special times with friends that I cherish to this day.

Why not look forward to summer with an early visit to the beach this March.  It is a season of anticipation of all the fun that is ahead of us this summer.
